A small, personal 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded from lived experience and a desire to help people facing life-changing mobility challenges.
Nathan Powell, Founder and President
Our purpose
Helping restore independence, dignity, and hope.
We understand that a spinal cord injury, paralysis, or another serious mobility-limiting condition can affect far more than movement. Individuals and families may face equipment needs, uncovered expenses, and difficult choices.
Our Foundation was created to offer limited, carefully reviewed assistance while treating every applicant with dignity and respect.
Our Story
When Nathan Powell was 12 years old, he was shot and sustained a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the chest down.
Through rehabilitation, determination, and the support of people who stood beside him, Nathan learned how to move forward through challenges he never expected to face. He also learned how difficult it can be to obtain necessary medical equipment and manage expenses that are not fully covered by insurance.
Those experiences inspired him to establish Nathan Powell Foundation in Missouri in 2022.
The Foundation was established so that people living with spinal cord injuries, paralysis, and other significant long-term mobility limitations would know they are not forgotten and do not have to face every challenge alone.

A Message From Our Founder
Thank you for visiting Nathan Powell Foundation.
After a spinal cord injury changed my life at age 12, I learned firsthand how difficult it can be to obtain essential equipment, resources, and support. Those experiences inspired me to start this Foundation so that people living with paralysis or significant long-term mobility limitations know they are not forgotten.
We are a small organization, but we are building carefully and responsibly so we can provide meaningful help to people with real needs. Every donation, partnership, and person who shares our mission helps make that possible.
Whether you are here to learn about our work, request assistance, or support our mission, I am grateful that you took the time to visit.
Together, we can help restore independence, dignity, and hope.
Sincerely,
Nathan Powell Founder and President Nathan Powell Foundation, Inc.
