How Donations Are Used
Donations support the Foundation’s charitable mission, the Individual Assistance Program, community outreach, fundraising, and necessary administrative and operating expenses.
Unless a gift is formally accepted by the Foundation as restricted for a specific charitable purpose, the Foundation may use it where it is most needed to advance its mission.
Receipts and Tax Information
Nathan Powell Foundation is recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Givebutter provides an electronic receipt for online gifts. Donors should keep their receipts and consult a qualified tax professional about their individual circumstances.
Donor Intent and Restrictions
A donor who wants to request a restriction should contact the Foundation before making the gift. The Foundation may decline a restriction that is inconsistent with its charitable purpose, too difficult to administer, or beyond its current capacity.
Refunds
Charitable donations are generally final. A donor who believes a donation was made in error should contact the Foundation promptly. Any refund decision will be reviewed individually and may depend on payment processing, legal, accounting, and donor-restriction considerations.
Donor Privacy
The Foundation does not sell donor information. Anonymous-giving choices made through Givebutter will be honored in public donor displays. The Foundation may retain information needed for receipts, accounting, legal compliance, and responsible recordkeeping.
