Durable Medical Equipment Assistance and Limited Medical Bill Assistance for Individuals Living With Spinal Cord Injuries

Durable Medical Equipment Assistance

Access to appropriate medical equipment can make a major difference in a person’s daily life. Insurance may not cover every necessary item, repair, replacement, or related expense.

The foundation considers applications for eligible durable medical equipment needs related to spinal cord injury when funding is available.

Examples may include:

Wheelchairs or wheelchair-related equipment
Wheelchair batteries
Pressure-relief cushions
Transfer equipment
Necessary repairs or replacement parts
Other qualifying medical equipment needs

Request Assistance

Medical Bill Assistance

Medical expenses can place significant financial pressure on individuals and families.

The foundation considers applications for limited help toward eligible medical bills related to spinal cord injury care when funding is available.

Applicants may be asked later for supporting documentation such as a bill, provider information, proof of diagnosis, insurance information, or other materials needed to review the request.

How We Review Applications

Every complete request is reviewed individually. Assistance is not guaranteed.

Maximum assistance: The Foundation may award up to $1,000 for an approved request. An award may be less and always depends on eligibility, documentation, program fit, individual circumstances, and available funding.

Requests may be considered based on:

Connection to a spinal cord injury
Type and details of the need
Supporting documentation
Availability of other insurance or financial resources
Available foundation funding
Whether the request fits one of these two programs

Whenever possible, approved assistance may be paid directly to a qualified vendor, medical equipment provider, repair company, or healthcare provider rather than to the applicant.
